PT Astra Digital Internasional Group Event

Coral planting has become a vital initiative for marine conservation. Thus, PT Astra Digital International significantly contributed by organizing a CSR Coral Planting program at Pandawa Beach, Bali, on September 20, 2024. This event united 20 Indonesian participants, all committed to reviving Bali’s marine ecosystems. Moreover, this exciting initiative demonstrates how corporate responsibility can genuinely impact the protection of coral reefs, which are among the world’s most endangered habitats.

Furthermore, PT Astra Digital International, the digital arm of Astra Group, has a history of leading innovation. Established in 2018, the company consistently supports digital transformation efforts while promoting corporate social responsibility (CSR) values. Ultimately, this event marked another milestone in their commitment to environmental sustainability.

Group Event History

PT Astra Digital International, the digital innovation arm of Astra Group, has consistently prioritized social responsibility efforts. Since its establishment in 2018, Astra Digital aims to drive digital transformation while creating positive impacts through strategic CSR programs. Consequently, their CSR Coral Planting Program in Bali supported environmental sustainability and marine life conservation.

The event took place at Pandawa Beach, a popular yet vulnerable marine environment. While this location is renowned for its stunning ocean views, it also faces challenges from climate change and human activities. Therefore, Astra Digital’s CSR event directly contributed to rehabilitating the coral reefs, a crucial step in preserving Bali’s marine ecosystem.

Short Brief about CSR in Coral Planting

Participants were first introduced to the importance of coral reefs and their critical role in marine ecosystems. Subsequently, the conservation team explained how the Coral Planting initiative helps restore damaged reefs by planting nursery-grown corals back onto the ocean floor. This method not only strengthens coral resilience against threats like climate change but also combats destructive fishing practices.

As the corals grow, they naturally attract marine species such as sea turtles, feather stars, and various fish, thereby helping to rejuvenate the ecosystem. Additionally, the participants learned how their involvement in the program contributes directly to the conservation of Bali’s marine biodiversity, supporting long-term environmental sustainability.

The Coral Planting Process: Hands-on Experience for Participants

The main highlight of the event was the hands-on coral reef transplantation using the Web Spider Method. This innovative technique not only promotes coral growth but also enhances resilience. Therefore, participants were actively involved in planting nursery-grown corals onto the reef bed, contributing directly to the restoration of Bali’s marine ecosystems. After receiving instructions, they boarded boats and ventured into the waters off Pandawa Beach, where they carefully installed the coral structures. This method was specifically designed to ensure the corals had a stable foundation to anchor securely and flourish in their new environment.

As the activity progressed, participants became increasingly confident in their roles. Moreover, guided by marine conservation experts, they learned how to handle the delicate coral fragments with care and precision, gaining insight into the significance of their contributions in promoting marine biodiversity. Overall, the experience was both educational and deeply fulfilling, as each participant played a crucial role in safeguarding Bali’s marine life. Thus, their efforts served not only as a direct contribution to nature but also as a memorable and impactful learning experience.

Recognition and Achievement: Presentation of Certificates

As a token of appreciation, the conservation team at Pandawa Beach presented a certificate to PT Astra Digital. This formal recognition of the company’s efforts further emphasized the significance of the event. Furthermore, the certificate symbolized how the collective contribution of the participants had a positive impact on the environment, reinforcing the importance of corporate social responsibility.

Additionally, the certificate handover marked the conclusion of a productive and educational day at Pandawa Beach. For many participants, this was their first hands-on experience with coral planting, but it is likely not their last. Ultimately, the event not only met PT Astra Digital’s CSR objectives but also created lasting memories for everyone involved.

Event Goals and Customer Expectations

The primary goal of the CSR Coral Planting Program was to actively engage participants in marine conservation, while simultaneously raising awareness about the importance of coral reefs. Consequently, PT Astra Digital sought to foster a sense of environmental stewardship among their employees and partners through this event. Their expectation was to create a memorable experience where participants could give back to nature while learning about marine ecosystems.

Moreover, PT Astra Digital’s commitment to innovation extends beyond the digital realm into environmental conservation. The company anticipated that this experience would resonate deeply with participants, not just as a one-time activity but as a lasting reminder of their responsibility to the planet. By participating in the coral planting, the company also aimed to set an example for other businesses, illustrating how CSR initiatives can be impactful.
